About Me

In short, I’m a nerd, but that’s not a bad thing.  I read a lot, so I decided to start a blog where I talk about books.

My blog is here to be a place to voice my thoughts on whatever books I’ve been reading as well as anything else that crosses my mind from time to time.

As per my post here where I was given the Versatile Blogger Award, I’m supposed to list 7 things about myself, and rather than doing that in a post I decided to update this page, which hadn’t really been changed since I started the blog.

  1. I graduated from The University of Akron in May of 2011 with a B.A. in Psychology, which basically means that I’m a nerd who looks into a lot of very random things and actually enjoys learning.
  2. Hey I get to edit this.  Before this update, this number in the list talked about how I hadn’t shot a 300 bowling, and that my high series was a 781.  Well, as of 3/15/14, I have a 300 game and an 828 series to my credit.  I was really happy to shoot those scores, especially since I was bowling in a tournament at the time.
  3. When I first went to college immediately after graduating from high school I was a Music Education major.  I still think that I would enjoy teaching, but at the time Music Ed just wasn’t right for me.
  4. While I read a lot of books and have always enjoyed reading, years ago I was on a huge movie binge and I bought and watched quite a few movies from a variety of different genres.  Had I started this blog 2 or 3 years earlier than I did it’s very possible that the blog would have been based upon reviewing movies rather than reviewing books.
  5. Speaking of movies, The Shawshank Redemption is the greatest movie of all time.  You can’t argue against that statement, and don’t even try to, it won’t work.
  6. One of my favorite book series is The Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan and Brandon Sanderson.  It’s one of the first big series that I started reading, and through a convoluted series of events it really served as a springboard to get me reading as widely as I do today, here’s a blog post where I talk about how The Wheel of Time got me to start reading.
  7. (Cool, last fact for now.)  Being the general nerd that I am, I also play video games fairly often, albeit not nearly as often as I used to.  I’ve always been a big fan of role-playing game, and Final Fantasy 4 is my favorite game of all time.  I’m not the least bit ashamed to say that I have purchased at least 4 different versions of the game, and those are just the ones I can think of off the top of my head.

  1. Thanks for stopping by my blog today, doubly so, since some of our interests, especially in fantasy literature, overlap.

  2. Look forward to following what you’re reading! I’m always looking for good book reviews, and I like your rating system.

  3. Yay! Another blog about books! I enjoy reading your reviews and I am adding some of them to my TBR list 😀

  4. I’m really looking forward to reading your blog. I am about to graduate with a BA in Psychology…and have recently had a life crisis and changed all my plans/goals so basically I’ll know a whole lot of things no one cares about too haha. I really just wish I could read all the time!

I already see quite a few titles which set your blog apart from the others I’ve visited 🙂 Hope to add some of yours to my TBR 2012 as I read through.

Hiya! I really enjoy your blog! So I too, have nominated you for the Versatile Blogger award! Congrats! I know you’ve already had it but you deserve it again 🙂

  7. Hi, love your blog. I’ve read the first book in The Wheel of time series. Its a good book and I’ll be reading the rest of the series sometime. Looking forward to more of your posts.

    • Thanks for stopping by. I love the Wheel of Time, that series is the single biggest reason that I read a lot today.

Are you sure you aren’t me from another dimension (that is ahead of my dimension)?
I am an avid reader, I love movies and was thinking about starting a side project — a movie blog, have recently been getting into may different genres of movies than I used to, bowled on a league for 13 years (though my average never broke 200, I am sad to say), I just got out of the education department when I realized it wasn’t for me, and I LOVE RPG VIDEO GAMES. Oh, and The Shawshank Redemption is #1 on my facebook list of favorite movies (I really can’t decide which is my favorite). My good friend has tried to convince me to read the Wheel of Time series, which now I may very well start.
Weird. I have now decided to follow your blog. Congratulations! 😛

  11. Hi! I’ve enjoyed reading your blog, and I was wondering if you ever accept books for review?

    • Sure, I’d be willing to take a look at something if you’d like, go ahead and drop me an email and we’ll discuss it.

      Thanks for reading.
